BOOYAA GOLF NEW ZEALAND

Van Zyl Meyer is the Director and Partner of BooYaa Golf New Zealand, bringing the South African-born golf lifestyle brand to Kiwi fairways and beyond.

VAN ZYL MEYER

Originally from South Africa, Van Zyl built his career in the technology sector, holding network engineering and leadership roles since the age of 21. Years spent solving complex problems, building systems, and leading teams shaped the disciplined and entrepreneurial approach he now brings to business.

A turning point came when his father passed away, and Van Zyl stepped away from his career for a year to run the family business. The experience deepened his appreciation for entrepreneurship and the responsibility of building something that supports not only a family but a wider community.

After moving to New Zealand in 2013, Van Zyl continued his career in network engineering while nurturing a long-standing dream to build something of his own. That vision eventually led to the launch of BooYaa Golf New Zealand alongside a close friend, bringing the brand’s energy, personality, and lifestyle philosophy to a new market.

For Van Zyl, golf has always been more than a sport. It represents connection, competition, and celebration. The spirit of BooYaa captures that moment of excitement on the course — the shout of victory, the shared laugh with friends, and the simple joy of being present.

The mission behind BooYaa is also deeply personal. As a father, Van Zyl is driven to build something meaningful for his children, including his son, who has autism. Inspired by the work of golfing legend Ernie Els and others supporting autism awareness, he hopes BooYaa can help create opportunities and raise awareness for people living with autism.

Through BooYaa Golf New Zealand, Van Zyl aims to grow more than just a brand. His vision is to build a community around golf, positivity, and inclusion, bringing people together, celebrating the game, and reminding everyone that life is meant to be enjoyed.

Because at the end of the day, BooYaa is about celebrating living golf.
